What is your strength when it comes to emotional intelligence?

Sometimes to a fault, picking up on the state of mind and emotions of other people. I really feel what other people are feeling, and sometimes it gets in the way. It’s both a strength and a weakness.

What is one book, blog, or podcast you recommend widely?

I’ve been recommending two books lately - Crossing the Chasm, which is a marketing book with a great spin on how people think about software, and Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss.

How would you describe your areas of expertise based on industry, market, and/or function?

For industry, I’m in the long-term care and assisted living space. My background and passion is building software.

What is your most memorable Junto moment?

After our first Mentor Team meeting, coming out and realizing we knew nothing about our business and that we had a lot of work to do.

What are 1-2 leadership virtues you've observed or learned in your career?

Picking between winning and doing the right thing is always hard at first but it’s always better in the long run to do the right thing. Being humble and listening more, and avoid passing judgement.

What is your superpower?

Patience and thinking freely.

What have you learned about yourself through participating in Junto?

Happiness starts with me. If I’m not happy, I can’t make anyone else happy. During the program, some of the things that we learned were a bit lost on me, and then they had a dramatic effect on me when I started really implementing those practices.

What is something that's not on your LinkedIn profile that you wish was?

Time spent volunteering. I haven’t spent a lot of time doing that, it’s something I can change but I just haven’t yet.

Scaling the company to hit our next revenue target.
