"If you choose to be your authentic self, then people will go out of their way to help you. It’s a “let go” concept, rather than “hold on tighter”."

What is one book, blog, or podcast you recommend widely?

We give all of our employees the book The Dip by Seth Godin when they onboard. It’s all about helping people decide if they’re ready for making massive change in their life.

What have you learned about yourself through participating in Junto?

Leading is hard for everyone, but if you choose to be your authentic self, then people will go out of their way to help you. It’s a “let go” concept, rather than “hold on tighter.”

What's something that's not on your LinkedIn profile that you wish was?

My love of extreme sports! I’ve climbed 14,000-foot mountains, Capitol Peak and Machu Picchu, paraglided, and skydived.

What is your most memorable Junto moment?

Our graduation night (JuntoNight). I was really nervous to get on stage and give a speech, because I didn’t know how to put into words everything that we’d learned. Looking around the room, I just felt overwhelmed by everyone there that had given so much time to help us get where we were. I hadn’t planned on it, but I asked everyone to turn to the person next to them and give them a hug, and it was really overwhelming to stand on stage and watch that happen.

What are 1-2 leadership virtues you've observed or learned in your career?

The first one is something a former professor of mine said, which is “go with growth”. If you choose to spend your time on growth, your time will be multiplied because you’ll benefit from change and evolution, versus if you spent your time in stagnant areas and run in place. The second is “finding your magnet”. Ask yourself what you’re doing to pull yourself closer to your magnet, which is whatever your end-goal is. If you spend time doing things in pursuit of your magnet, you’ll be much happier.

How would you describe your areas of expertise based on industry, market, and/or function?

What is your strength when it comes to emotional intelligence?

My ability to ignore my own personal needs or wants so that I can really hear what someone else needs or wants.

IT transformation. Helping large global enterprise leaders shift their organizational cultures through growth and change.

Finish the following sentence, "In my experience, ______________."

People who persevere towards their goals always come out way ahead of those who resist change.

What is your superpower?

My ability to simultaneously assess situations from both an optimistic and pessimistic point of view. Most people only see what they want to see, and then their options feel limited. If you’re willing to accept the extremes of any choice or consequence, then you can easily see that there are unlimited options in between that allow everyone to win.
