PREREQUISITE: Fundamentals of Emotionally Intelligent Leadership
You already know that your brain is the most complex machine imaginable. And you have greater control over it than you might think.
In this session, you’ll learn more details about the three main parts of your brain, what the latest neuroscience research has revealed about it, and practical ways you can exercise control over it on a daily basis. You’ll also get a refresher on the foundations of emotional intelligence and how it’s affected by your brain’s anatomy.
This is session #1 of 12 total in the “Emotionally Intelligent Leadership” program.

PREREQUISITES: Sessions 1 – 4
The key to becoming an emotionally intelligent leader is self-management: taking control and responsibility of your thinking, language, and behavior. Once you start building your self-awareness in a thoughtful way, you gain the power to exercise this control in an equally intentional manner.
In this session, you’ll learn about the most inspiring leadership trait, centeredness, or how to maintain and build greater emotional balance so that you can consistently show up as the person you want to. You’ll also learn about the keys to building a stronger achievement orientation based on your personal characteristics rather than trying to emulate how others motivate themselves.

At a fundamental level, culture is defined by language and behavior: what people say and do. If that’s the case, your recent learning about emotional intelligence has set the stage to build new language and behaviors into the culture of your team and/or organization.
In this session, you’ll learn how to do this in an additive way that’s aligned with the company’s vision, mission, and values so that its identity and essence remain intact. You’ll discover how you can introduce emotionally intelligent standards and norms for desired language and behavior. And you’ll explore different approaches you can take to not only inspire and influence your team to adopt emotional intelligence practices but to scale those practices with their participation.

The most complex skill set of emotionally intelligent leadership is relationship management: applying the work you do in the other three levels to your daily interactions with others. When you do this with thoughtful intention, the outcome is stronger, healthier relationships that not only benefit both parties but also everyone else who’s connected.
In this session, you’ll learn the final two building blocks of emotionally intelligent leadership, and arguably the most difficult. First, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of influence: why it’s a powerful yet underappreciated workplace skill, how to use it in an emotionally intelligent way, and why it is the purest manifestation of leadership in action. Second, you will learn about inspiration: why it’s the “pinnacle” of emotionally intelligent leadership, how you can move people in the workplace by leveraging your natural talents, and why you already have the capacity to use it.

In this session, you’ll learn about the “cornerstone” of emotionally intelligent leadership: your emotional awareness, and how an acute understanding of it on a moment-by-moment basis can affect how you show up, far beyond your imagination. You’ll also learn about the power of your self-image, and how much of it is not based on what you think and know about yourself.

Science has determined that a single “moment” is 2-3 seconds long and, as humans, we’re capable of experiencing multiple emotions in each moment. So imagine how many emotions you actually experience every single day, and the impact they have on what you think, say, and do…mostly subconsciously.
In this session, you’ll learn from the latest neuroscience research how your emotions guide your thought processes, how your motivation is influenced by wanting vs. liking, the impact emotions have on your will (power), which emotions you are most likely to feel, and how likely you are to react to certain emotional situations.

It requires an ability to learn about each person, what their strengths and limits are, how they’re motivated, and what language or behavior to use in communicating with them. In other words, it requires emotional intelligence.
In this session, you’ll learn how to apply the building blocks of emotionally intelligent leadership in a coaching context. We’ll begin by highlighting what coaching is and how it contrasts with advising, mentoring, supervising, etc. We’ll then move into how you can use social awareness skills such as curiosity, listening, and service in order to build stronger bonds with your team members. PREREQUISITES: Sessions 1 – 11
This is session #12 of 12 total in the “Emotionally Intelligent Leadership” program.

PREREQUISITES: Sessions 1 & 2
The more we learn about ourselves, the more we can improve. The more we improve, the more self-mastery we develop. And in doing so, we build an unlimited capacity to positively impact every part of our life. But it all starts with our “self.”
